Pride Manager Butch Hobson Gets Ejected & Throws Tantrum

Back

The Nashua Pride's manager, former BoSox player Butch Hobson, got ejected from a game against the North Shore Spirit on July 27,07. Both teams are a part of the independent Can-Am League. He threw the best tantrum I'd ever seen at Fraser Field after arguing over the fact that umps changed a call on a play that was clearly safe. Enjoy ^_^ *********************************** NEWS: This might show up on Fox Sport's "The Best Damn Sports Show Period" in their "50 Best Ejections" special! Me so happy it got recognised on the YouTube. ^_^

Best - tirade - ever. "Hey kid. Take first base. Go on, take it."

The runner was safe. I loved it when Hobson gave the kid the bag. He should've been allowed to keep it. I'm sure the stadium had a spare bag somewhere.

Very good sportsmanship by the first coach. I am a basketball and soccer referee, plan on taking up baseball or softball after I graduate from college. I've dealt with many different kinds of coaches and parents/fans. It's funny half the stuff some of these coaches says sometime, especially when they say something that is contrary to the rules, and they know it. Anyways, great overturn on the 1st base umpire, very well controlled.

Did you notice that the first coach came out and talked semi-respectful? He got the call. Did you notice that the second didn't and got tossed? Heres a lesson to you people who don't umpire. If you want an umpire to listen to you, PIPE DOWN! Talk to him with respect and he WILL respect you and try to get the call right. If you come out heollering at him, he really won't want to waste his time with you.
