Interviewer: Lunar and solar eclipses, sunset and sunrise, and the changing of seasons -- how would you explain all these phenomena, if the Earth is not round, as you claim?
Fadhel Al-Sa'd: The sun circles the Earth because it is smaller than the Earth, as is evident in Koranic verses.
Have you ever seen how the sun moves? I have seen the sun moving. The sun makes one move every 24 hours.
What I say is based on Koranic science. He bases his arguments on the kind of science that I reject categorically -- the modern science that they teach in schools. This science is a heretic innovation that has no confirmation in the Koran. No verse in the Koran indicates that the Earth is round or that it rotates. Anything that has no indication in the Koran is false.

no. u read the false interpretation of the text. the word is acutally the flat piece of floor which an ostrich makes to lay the egg. FLAT, not round like an egg!!

He was probably put on the show as a move from the secularist movements to make the religious iraqis look foolish :) And memri Tv is quick to pick it up because they have that very same agenda. The channel is tied to Washington DC and Israel, if you don't believe me check out the site

He isn't extreme really, he's just extremely wrong. Look at his quote, how he interprets that as the earth being flat baffles me. Hundreds of years ago scholars used the Quran to prove that the earth was a spherical object revolving around the sun, a sun that is also in motion. He's just an ignorant old man so humor him :) I know these types I'm from Iran, old men who like the sound of their own voice

Your "scholars" could probebly find anything in the quran as long as it fit their desires while ignoring the bad interpretations.Its Amazing how every religion's "scholars" can see truth in their own sacred text while looking at other people's texts as trash.If you had been raised a christian, i dare say that you would be saying the same thing about the bible.Same goes if you had been raised hindu.I know its hard to break from your delusion but I wish you would try. Use simple unbiased logic

This is baffling, that quranic verse says nothing about the world being flat for starters. In a debate doctor Zaker Naik shows how the Quran describes the world as round contrary to the bible texts and examples of Dr Campbell. You can find this debate on youtube but it is 4 hours long :)
