Psychiatry Drugs Foster Care Children - Tristen
I took my video camera to a Foster Care Alumni meeting and asked seven foster kids to tell me about there experiences in Child Protective Services while wards of the state.
One thing they all had in common was massive over drugging with psychiatric drugs.
Child placement agencies, foster parents, RTCs (Residential Treatment Centers) and Therapeutic Foster Homes get paid a certain amount of money each day for taking care of a foster child. The amount of money they get paid depends on a level of care system. The more difficult the child or the more problems that child has, the more money you get.
A child at the basic level of care is worth about 17 dollars a day where as a child in the highest level of care could be worth as much as a 1000 dollars a day. This puts the incentive on diagnosing children with behavior problems to justify raising their level of care. A child on psychiatric drugs is worth more than a child without problems.
It is not uncommon for a foster child to be placed on many different psychotropic drugs at the same time. Some investigations have found children on as many as 13 mind altering drugs prescribed by a psychiatrists at one time.
These drugs include all categories of psychiatric drugs; antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anxiety medications, anticonvulsants medications, etc.
The SSRI drugs are commons such as Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, etc. Also a number of these children described taking Risperdal, Zyprexa, Geodon and other new generation antipsychotics which have been linked to weight gain, obesity and diabetes.

You are an honorable man, Tristen. You deserved much better than you got.
Pharmaceutical companies are deep into the politics and influencing policies and legislations. The Mental Health Initiative recently adopted by the Bush administration is that industry's crown jewel in their effort to continue to rape this country of its financial and human resources. This must be fixed through campaign finance reform, appropriate legislation and Universal Health Care. Contact your legislators.

The C.P.S. workers who recommended DRUGS
on kids, to keep them from their REAL bio-parents, should be indicted by County GRAND
JURIES and convicted & put in Prison like any
other criminal. C.P.S. workers are liars, perjurors, i.e. = > C R I M I N A L S.
So volunteer for the County Grand Jury
and help put CPS Criminals and cruel foster
parents in JAIL. JUSTSICE DEMANDS IT.

I worked in the system... he is telling the truth. The Foster Care System is a travesty.

jezus this happened to me 16 yrs ago i was 14, in ireland.i was so hurt by this that i got fucked up, had 2 kids and they took my two kids away 7 yrs ago and i cant get them back, its so sad, there 9 and 12 now. bless them

The story comes to mind... when we're born, in every one of us exists a Good Wolf and a Bad Wolf. One wolf will eventually kill the other and dominate our life. What determines who lives is simple... which one do you feed the most.

I'm with ya fosterparents. Foster parents can be great. Thank you. The state is a disgrace. They take kids away and they pretend some kids were harmed and hire their so called "experts" to say this. If the kids wasn't abused they will keep them and give them therapy till a kids actually believes he/she was abused. I've read a study on this and I saw this with my own grandkid. She lived with me they said she was exposed to violence with her parent, but she didn't live with them. LIars.
