The cellar captive daughter has finally reunited with the six surviving children she had with her father. Here are more details of her bizarre ordeal that took almost a quarter of a century to come to light.
Forensic teams move in to the house where Elisabeth Fritzl was held captive for 24 years by her own father who reported her missing.
Josef Fritzl kept her in the basement of the family home in the Austrian town of Amstetten and had seven children with her.
Her ordeal came to light when her eldest daughter needed hospital treatment and doctors appealed to the mother to come forward with medical details.
Newspaper journalist Andrea Kramer says she offered to help find Elisabeth and was stunned by her father's reaction.
[Andrea Kramer, Oersterreich Journalist]:
"I asked him for a photo of his daughter who he supposedly thought was missing and he was really aggressive and wanted to chase me away. He said he would help himself and didn't need help from anyone else and it seemed to me he was frightened to death because his daughter was missing."
Shocked residents in Amstetten have been holding a candle-light vigil for the family.
Elisabeth and her six surviving children have been united in what doctors have called an astonishing gathering. A seventh died soon after birth.
She was separated from three of the children who were taken to live upstairs with Elisabeth's own parents.
She says her father lured her into the cellar in 1984, drugged her and imprisoned her.
He is being held in custody as inquiries continue.

This is a common misconception. Many prisoners congratulate rapists. Incest might be a different story, but rapists are celebrated in prison. Everyone says "He'll get his in prison"... He doesn't, he won't.

The penis is responsible for much of the world's grief. Think about it. It's disgusting what men will do who can't control themselves. Every episode of To Catch A Predator holds a perfect example that these sick animals walk amongst us, undetected until it's often too late. Really gross.

I was shocked when I heard story like this. Make me sick. I can't believe someone would do this to his own daughter. How do other family members, especially the wife, do not know anything going on in their basement for the last 24 years that is almost a 1/4 of a century????

Use the glass from the mirror to cut fritzls throat next time he comes in. When hes not there do press ups to build strength. Or just let the bath/taps run so the place floods and he has to call a plumber. Jesus christ do something.

do this then everyone dies. each of the 8 doors to the cellar had coded locks only josef knew, so if elizabeth killed him they all would have starved to death.

yeah i agree he needs to die. and i heard from another video he only gets 20 years! his daughter was locked up for 24 years. seriously whats wrong with the world! actually when i think about it he shouldnt get the death penalty. he should rot in prison untill he dies because to me getting stuck in prison is far worse than dying. you get the easy way out if you die. he should be able to feel how she felt though it wont be as bad cause he prob wont be raped.he should be tortured untill he dies.
