"Don't Tread On Me Flag" supposedly used by the Culpeper Minutemen of Colonial America who had the slogan "Liberty or Death". While not proven, this may be the infamous flag which was flown by the first Minute Men to engage British troops in what shortly thereafter became the Revolutionary War.
None of this changes the fact that it is still considered disrespectful. Am I saying that he should have been arrested? Of course not. He wasn't arrested to begin with.
Writing on the flag should carry the same weight as burning the flag unceremoniously. Anyone who does it is violating no law, but they ARE violating the flag. Flying a violated flag isn't as bad, but it is no longer able to act as a symbol for the United States.
With that said, the police had no right or reason to take the flag.

Sorry but this is the Culpeper Minutemen Flag that allowed for what followed a Nation! The American flag has nothing to do with the "Don't Tread On Me Flag"
