The etymology of Tetovo comes from old Bulgarian name of the town of Htetovo. "Hteti" as an infinitive, old bulgarian form of v. means -want -will. Тетово или старобългарската форма Хтетово, като етимология идва от глагола - хтети или искам желая, в диалектните шопските говори се среща като хо'чу.
