An earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter Scale shook Los Angeles for 40 seconds. The death toll was low as it took place in the early hours of the morning when people were asleep but serious damage was sustained by buildings and elevated freeways.

thats ridiculous - i would be more annoyed if there was a huge earthquake in LA and its wasnt shown on the news. also in the uk, the government does not make news, the BBC does, or in this case ITN
