Robert Millar was an inspiration to me. The way he could accelerate up mountains was incredible. He finished fourth in one Tour de France. It has to be the toughest sporting event on the planet. Its a disgrace why Millar has never received an MBE as he is Britains greatest cyclist.

si, pensar que Pereiro o Contador ya han conseguido lo que tanto le costo a Perico es para echarse a llorar, el ciclismo ha sido injusto con Pedro en el Tour, tanto como generoso en la vuelta.
I remember that this wonderful stage saw Millar going over the 3 previuos Cols first(Tourmalet,Aspin,Peyresourd)prior to the final ascent-which saw him claw back twice to an angered Perico who threw a water bottle at a spectator who shouted in his ear at the bottom of the climb, and stamped away from Millar & Mottet. This was a truely remarkable stage in the way that Millar dug deeper than his previuos stage wins (83, 84)for his truely best ever TDF stage win.

Robert Millar- what a rider!
Despite what has been written about him in the press (and let's face it what he does with his life is up to him) he will always be one of my heroes. Inspired me to pick up a bike and for that I will always be thankful.
