You have to discuss pre-point w/ your studio director, b/c if your feet haven't finished growing and strengthening enough you could get seriously injured.... so ask if they think you're ready for pre-point/point. As for turn out, I stand in first position always, even when I'm not at dance. Then make sure your ankles are turn out, this way you get it in your mind to always turn your ankles out.

if youve been doing ballet for 2 years you should be pretty close [if you do it seriously]. you should ask your instructor how long itll be so you dont have to keep guessing! its all about ankle and foot strength, though, so do lots of relevays and tondus. for your turn out, do lots of plies and splits... the trick though is to HOLD THEMM. its something about the way your muscles relax, but when i started holding my slips for 30 seconds each, i got both sides in a week. good luckk!
