Soaring unemployment in East Timor, one of Asia's poorest countries, has raised concerns that violence could return to the streets if the restlessness among the country's youths continues.
With about 80 per cent of young Timorese leaving school without any job in sight, most have given up hope except to leave their shores for greener pastures.
Hannah Belcher reports.

University education does not make you a better person. It usually makes people worse people as the moral environment in universities is horrible. And many majors do not provide the expected payoff that most people want. Many people, including those profiled by Al-Jazeera in Egypt and East Timor, do not get jobs. Also, there is a lot of time wasted and money that could have been made while not going to university.

Problem with East Timor's oil and gas sector is that Australians are tapping it all out because it will not be handed over to East Timor for some years to come. East Timor did protested but Australians are drilling the wells dry before it's time to hand them over to the East Timor's govenment... That in itself is a crime against humanity.
