You get this long build up with the guy's running fantasys, and then the relatively quick showing of the people at the end whom deligitamate the first guy. And the music player accompanies them so it must be good. The idea is to show how this NEW product will drastically improve your running/athletic experience and that it is so much cooler than what the first guy is doing.
If you need to buy a 200 dollar music player to motivate yourself though you don't have much will power to begin with.
The point of the ad was to show the added benefit, and increased motivational power, of the music player. It is being juxtaposed as both better motivation, and a running with it a more legitamate athletic activity then the suggested mundane experience of running on a treadmill imagining yourself running away from or toward things.
