Jimmy Bruno is good guitarist, but to all you aspiring jazz guitarist I recommend that you listen to Johnny Smith. He's the epitome of jazz guitar from the jazz era.Once you listen you will see,and hear why.

Jimmy has the strongest melodies - just because of his no-nonsense approach. I have benefited tremendeously from his lessons at the guitar institute. I recommend to everyone who is serious about their playing: abandon the mode gibberish and learn to play MUSIC at the JBGI!
Hello Jimmy, I'm a Detroit jazz guitar player. Its nice to see & hear you play. The last time I heard you was about 12 years ago. Your music has inspired me. Check my
u2b video at Michael Gabriel the night has a thousand eyes. Let me know what you think!
i own polarity, and i couldn't get into it because it really didn't sound like there was much depth to his playing- it sounds to me that his "don't make it too intellectual" talk actually comes out in his playing because his playing never sounds very sophisticated, and as a result doesn't really keep my interest. If you listen to a guy like peter bernstein you hear that he is so melodic and every single note has meaning and fits into what he's doing. Just my opinion...
Jimmy Rocks Flat out plain and simple the way the man approaches and teaches, no non sense just melodies, huge improvement in my skill level and I'm about to join this guitar inst! Not to under mind jazz or the brainy community out there. I respect and admire all however, lets make music not reports of what when and where!mode, scale, arp ect.Dont over analyze your playing just play with swing feel heart and knowledge of the fret board!

Jimmy's playing is as medodic as they come, I think. If you slow down the fast stuff, you'll hear how tuneful it is at any speed. I'm signed up for the on-line classes, have enjoyed his older videos, and saw him live in Washington DC; to my ears, he has taken jazz guitar to a new level, combining the best of Barney Kessel/Herb Ellis melodicism with the hyper energetic "sheets of sound" approach of classic hard bop saxophonists.
