This is the story of Amul. A folk song plays to clips from the movie Manthan that talks about the economic hardships rural women in india faced after independence, a new co-operative called amul (anand milk union ltd) was formed to help them. Today, Amul has grown to become Asia's biggest dairy company, which is still owned by these farmers.
"mare ghar jhanjar laxmi ke baje"(in my house, the bells of wealth ring) was a line that was added replacing the original line, as a symbol of the success of amul.

I think song is available on cooltoad and hamaraforums. Song is sung wonderfully sung by Preeti Sagar. Pity she didn't get many songs later. She rightfully won Filmfare award for the song.

kudos 2 vergese kurien who made rural women financially independent
Amul, you are our pride. Co-operative society model is the right model for wealth distribution. I would be the happiest indian the day you bash Nestle/HLL and give them a bloody nose. The day even those greedy MBAs prefer to work for you than for Nestle or HLL.

I have seen the movie "Manthan" and it's a great story of real India. Can you please tell me where I can download the movie and the chant.I watched this 15 years back and still cannot forget it cos thats how i fell in love with India and all things about India
Thaks to Shyam who directed the Film, I met him in our college at AJK MCRC, Jamia.I came to the slums of Delhi to work on the project of UNESCO, Then I found the same circumstances which were evident in the film, the local garment industry of the slum area was suffering, I started using technology to upgreade the status of the work, I used burkha clad women of the area, and now we are doing better, I told to Shyam Benegal, all this, Great salute to Kurien
