001kb :thanks for the compliment, i believe if we don't forget and forgive, we human beings should kill each other till end of the world, because there is always reasons for revenge, as you said we've learned from history, since we have about 3000 years history and civilization we fought with many nations such as Greeks, macadonians, Romans, Arabs, mongols, Turks, and recent war with Iraq!
Actually the Spartans were the gay culture. As the video states the Spartans were trained from the age 7 to death(or old age death usually came first) to fight. The Spartans homosexuality is widely known and they felt that the only purpose for women is reproduction, and not compainonship, b/c they had each other for that. The gay relationship actual strengthed their combat abilities b/c of the mutual love, compassion, and loyalty they formed from the intiment relations they had for each other.
ffxbass, you were asking why the Persians & Spartans fought not at that location, yet why they actually fought the battle regardless of were the physical battle was fought, yet the reason for the conflict....am I correct in my interpertation in your question or were you really asking why they fought at that specific location(which was tactical advantages as other have commented on)?
