Well, now that Helen Mein Kumpedyke has been voted out..there just may be a chance of a combat wing once again.
Here's hoping,as our forces are now sadly lacking.

Shame, one huge step backwards for the RNZAF

Labour keeps scrapping everything in the military.
It's too bad you guys lost your fighters.
I don't know but an Air Force without fighters seems kind of pointless.

We're getting some back, the government's long term strategic development plan has allowed for a billion dollars to be spent on tactical helicopters and fighters up until 2011

This was great. Kiwi fighter jocks, good to go, definitely! I'm former USAF and have always admired the Royal New Zealand Air Force - small, but you get the job done. It's a shame that your fighter jets were taken away. I know you almost got some F-16's from us and I wish that would have gone through. If nothing else, hell, we've got some perfectly good F-5E/F's mothballed that I'm quite sure the RNZAF could put to good use...
by crikey john campbell hasnt changed at all :P
in contrast, the airforce has changed, the only news/tv time these jets get on tv now is of them neglected on the side of an airforce base covered in latex condoms.. ;(
