I predicted Gene would be massive - how could they not be? Their songs were just too good. It never happened which, ironically, makes them even better now. Us who knew about them kind of have them to ourselves now which is an honour in itself.
I am a massive fan of both, nothing to do with the similarities at all. Rossiter does sound like Morrissey; he sings in the sound tone and that doesn't mean that he was influenced by him or anything-it's just a fact that they sound alike. Great band-Mason was class. Looked the dogs bollox

I once asked Martin Rossiter his opinions of Morrissey; he said he was a fan of M/Smiths, but "it just p*sses me off whe people we're nothing but copies of them." Gene had a totally distinctive sound - influenced yes, copying, no!

It was winter time and these vocals uplifted the whole thing.
Sounds like the smiths?!! More like sounds like Gene if you ask me and rossiter sounds nothing like morrissey (anarchly depressed and all that). Why do people always need to attach you to something past?
The band were excellent and must be feeling the royalty pinch by now?
A music re-union retirement tour is a good remedy surely?
Your fans await.

This band were a righteous successor to The Smiths, and were vastly under-rated. Thanks for posting :-)
