you must be very young, this was nothing new or ground breaking for the Newport jazz festival during decade of the fiftys and early sixtys

I am, I'm 16. Maybe it's not ground breaking for newport jazz, but I thought it was for that time, because Martin Luther King's famous speech was in 1963. So the big racism wasn't over yet. Still it isn't nowadays, but most of it is.

The white guy was telling the truth. This song is about Hoodoo, a.k.a. 'rootwork'. A mojo is a cloth bag filled with various roots, herbs, minerals, and sometimes even animal parts, for a specific purpose, usualy for luck in gambling, protections, money, revenge, or in this case, love-drawing.
As we say in spain " you´ll never go to bed , whotout learning a new thing" "no te acostaras sin saber una cosa mas" . Thanks for the info , I only knew what austin powers told me about the mojo heheh.
(continued) Visit my profile. I have a mojo in my background picture. It's actualy taken from a vintage King Novelty Catalog (1940s).
King Novelty was a mail order spiritual supply company that a lot of rootworkers purchased supplies from.
