It took 606 takes to get it right.

They dismantled one of two prototypes of the Accord Estate to do this ad, but didn't tell Honda they were doing it. The Honda people were really pissed at first, until they saw the ad. Then they were just pissed.

They do go up in a jerky motion? What's your point? They're weighted
drummerdickens(Sunday 30th of November 2008 09:05:27 AM)
It is not in one take. Its in two. They stop shooting at the point the exhaust rolls down, purposefully, but I know for fact they stopped at that point and treated it like two adverts joined together.

Right, no special effects though - and the tyre "rolling up hill" is simple physics - the centre of gravity moves down - the tyre only appears to move up because its eccentrically weighted.
That is amazing its completely real and they are all car parts. It's not animation. I wish I had the talent, patience, and dedication it took to do that. Completely fantastic. Rube Goldberg would be so proud to watch this amazing show.

about 1 bit is fake the weels rolling up
drummerdickens(Sunday 30th of November 2008 09:03:23 AM)
No, its all real. There are newspaper articles about it and everything. When the exhaust rolls off they cut, and start again, because it would've been too expensive to make.
The tyres roll up because they are weighted.
Ramanjuna(Sunday 30th of November 2008 10:10:33 AM)
Nope, you're 100% wrong - the wheel is eccentrically weighted - the wheel rolls uphill because the centre of gravity is right near the top of the wheel - in the half revolution it makes the centre of gravity actually moves downhill giving the appearance of gravity being reversed. The whell moves uphill but the centre of gravity moves down as the net result - if you can't get your head round how it works you have a v.poor understanding of mechanics.
