This incident was video recorded by Simon Lowe. 233 people where on board this jet bound for Lanzarote. The number 2 engine sucks in one bird (a crow or corvid) as the plane rotates off the runway.
T.V. news reports of two herons being sucked in are wrong.
Congratulations to the crew and air-traffic controllers for the calm and professional way they dealt with the situation. Please checkout more video's by me on Flightlevel350.com.

This is funny, with all of our technology... A little bird jeopardized the lives of many. Pethetic.

Hat's off to both ATC and Crew. Though you know that half of the passengers are going to be still bitching like hell that their flight won't go through. I never understood people who go into air rage mode when the flight is delayed for weather or maintence issues. The exact same people who will instantly be wailing at the airport and demanding the instant shutdown of an airline when one of their loved ones died in a crash

Its really necessary for the controllers to speak so fast? I dont understand half of what they say, and the low quality radio doesnt help too much. I guess pilots get used to it...
yes, onl the left was running, they had to shut down the right engine. As far as the pilots were concerned it was an engine failure, in which case, they shut down the engine, make it secure, and then yes concentrate on comming back to the field.
The aircraft is capable on flying on 1 power plant. The bigest danger for them was that it was on takeoff, when you need all the power. But they dealt with this very well, stabalised climb and landed safely.
A big congratz to the flight-crew, ATC & the emergency teams. They all handled & responded to the situation very well!
I flew on this aircraft less than 3 months before!
