Direct Stone Carving

Back

I made this video using Windows Movie Maker as part of a tutorial for youtube.com/nuubtv Normally I would have used Sony Vegas Pro or perhaps MQ so that I would have more control on the audio levels. I think it turned out pretty nice in any case. Normally I carve alabaster. You can see some of my finished pieces at: http://www.imag3.com/xxaxx/sculpture/stone/ The stones are black chlorite and deep purple Pyrophyllite. If you look at Embrace (http://www.imag3.com/xxaxx/sculpture/stone/embrace/) you can see how the chlorite polishes.

Yea, no, I mean, great ! It's wonderful to see a video which is the backbone of a tutorial about making a video about a work in progress. It's like, there was an old woman who swallowed a fly, she swallowed a spider to catch the fly, she swallowed a bird to catch the spider, she swallowed ... thanks for he tutorials Claude...looking forward to see th finished piece... wonderful stuff altogether...

I'm so busy with making tutorials that one way of sneaking in production of my own stuff is to use them as samples for testing the different sofware and making the tutorials. Fun to see that someone noticed the strategy. *grin*

With all the dust flying, I'll probably need something like they use for underwater filming to protect the camera. That dust gets everywhere.

Thanks for the comment. I'll try to post more detail of the process.
