Thanks for posting this. It took me back to a cozy living room in Palo Alto where I watched the Olympics with my host family, and we all cheered like crazy for Edwin. Only bad thing about this clip is the commentator named Simpson. Does anybody know if Moses changed his lead foot or the number of half-strides during the race?

My favorite part is how he celebrated. Just cool. not having to showboat, he let his performance speak for itself. An amazing athlete and an amazing man.

The Soviets retreated not because of Gorbachev, but because of something called a Stinger.Look it up if u don't know what it is.

They retreated because of Gorbatchev. He was the Soviet head of state at that time - and a little more sensible than Dumbass Reagan with his ridiculous "Star Wars"/SDI! And your great Stinger rockets were one reason for the rising of Al-Qaida, and Al-Qaida caused something called "9/11". And if YOU don“t know what THAT is - well, look it up.

Haaaahahaha.Touche. BTW,SDI WAS technically viable, except that the cost in 1987 dollars would have been 300 billion dollars--that's possibly something like 700 billion of today's dollars,or the same amount that the US government is spending to buy up toxic debt. That's prohibitively expensive, and that's the only reason poor SDI never came into being.

edwin moses rocked in his day -- I am from and lived much of my life in Dayton, OH and he was a true hometown hero, though he never sought the spotlight. Not only a great athlete, but a scholar as well. Now that's a ROLE MODEL kids!
